Automated system for operational analysis the energy efficiency of public buildings heating in Donetsk city

Automated system for operational analysis the energy efficiency of public buildings heating in Donetsk city was carried out under an agreement with the Donetsk City Council for the scientific work No. 08-198 "Automation of energy consumption metering of public sector objects", and scientific work No. 09-275 "Development of an automated energy consumption metering system" .
An automated system consists of hardware and software.
The composition of the measuring post includes:
  • analogue air temperature sensors;
  • heat meters;
  • controller with integrated analog-to-digital converter;
  • industrial minicomputer;
  • ADSL modem.
The system was installed in school number 66 of the Kuibyshev district of the city of Donetsk.
 Temperature sensors LM335 (in box with a wireless controller).

Water temperature sensor

From the temperature sensors of automated posts, the analog signal is fed to the inputs of the microcontroller's ADC. The signal is digitized and using the file exchange of specified data, transmitted to the FTP-server of the energy management department. And from FTP-server data sends to database.

Automated workplace of the energy manager
The information used in the automated workplace of the energy manager of the system for analyzing the energy efficiency of heating of public buildings is necessary to realize the following functional capabilities:

  • input, modification and processing of administrative, territorial, legal information of public buildings;
  • entering and changing additional information related to energy supply, energy consumption and heat supply of buildings;
  • input, change and processing of information about connected communications, supply of energy resources and temperature regime of public buildings;
  • input, change and processing of information about the connected energy meters of public buildings;
  • manual entry and maintenance of databases of readings from energy meters;
  • automatic data collection of readings from energy meters;
  • generation and presentation to the user of data on energy consumption in tabular or graphical form;
  • generation of regulatory reports and analysis forms.

System are presented in many exhibitions. System are a part of dissertation

Automation of shooting a physical stationary object

The photo-shooting system for the electronic museum's  materials was automated by Moskalyuk Taras - a student of the Computer Science and Technology Faculty, under the my guidance. Automation is performed using the Lego NXT technology, which significantly approximates the end of work and improves the quality of the footage. The new shooting technology allows to expand the possibilities of creating three-dimensional images, up to 180 images per model, without complicating the process of shooting and processing raw materials. The thermostat in the boiler room

The complex performs automatic control of the boiler houses network  with the ability to monitor and adjust the algorithm through the global network. Consists from hardware and software parts. Includes a thermostat in the boiler room and a manager. Thermostat in the boiler room Hardware: The controller is a PC / 104 processor board (2xRS232, LPT, IDE, Ethernet, VGA, keyboard, mouse). ROM - IDE M-Systems 256 Mb flash disk. Sensors - case external temperature sensor (-40:+30°С); contact feed sensor (-5:+100°С), contact sensor of return water (-5:+100°С); Cabinet temperature sensor in the room (-5:+10°C). All sensors are built on thermistors. Analog input - self-made device (4 analog inputs 8kHz -> RS232, galvanic isolation). Discrete output - self-made device (Parallel port -> 8 relays); Power supply, housing, a set of connecting wires. Optionally - a CDMA modem with a directional antenna, a radio modem, a GSM modem, a wired telephone modem. Software : Windows NT 4.0

Golf Robot

My wife Victoria with my support created a robot based on the LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0. The robot was presented at the exhibition-exhibition "Physical Modeling and Robotics". An alternative goal is to show students the ease of creating robots based on the LEGO Mindstorms constructor. Tasks of the robot: 1. Drive to the ball (the ultrasonic sensor determines the distance). 2. Analyze the color of the ball with a color sensor and hit the ball in case the color of the ball is in the specified range. 3. Drive off and turn 90 degrees.
